The New Shelter at Pozhikkarai

Father recently completed the Thomas Lidge Shelter in the Diocese of Kottar. The construction of this shelter was supervised by his uncle Fr. Martin Alankaram Fernando, who is pastor of St. Anthony's Church in  Pozhikkarai. The cost for this shelter was approximately $45,000.00. This money has been raised and the shelter was finished in 2002. It houses approximately 25 families. The shelter has columns with a steel rod infrastructure, and is made of masonry and bricks. In addition to the living quarters there is a kitchen area, paring lot, prayer room, etc. The shelter is surrounded by a compound wall and has room for expansion on the upper level.
