Projects Fund completed a very successful overseas operation via the delivery of over $450,000.00 of used medical equipment to Fatima Mission Hospital in Dindigul India – located in the state of Tamilnadu. Said Sister Fatima Rani, Hospital Administrator… “We thank the Almighty and all of you who worked so hard for the success of this project”… The goods arrived at the hospital Sunday evening on February 1st.
Father Herman was contacted by a Sister at this hospital in late 2007. Project Cure became the obvious organization to approach for assistance and with the advent of a possible grant from Rotary International the project was conceptualized. George Roberge Vice President of Operations for Project Cure was instrumental in coordinating many aspects of this humanitarian effort. In 2008 India Projects Fund advanced $3000.00 for an on-sight assessment by Project Cure during which time pictures were taken and a thorough report was prepared on the legitimate medical needs of this mission. Thereafter an estimated 700 items were assembled in the U.S. – including a dozen hospital beds, anesthesia and x-ray units, surgical kits, medicines and simple hospital furniture. Project Cure coordinated their access to India through CASA- who maintained proper permitting from the Indian government for this shipment and distribution.
Despite significant volunteer “man-hours” India Projects Fund completed this collaboration with a full investment of only $5000.00, through the aforementioned partnership yielding a distribution of market value medical equipment to India of over $450,000.00. This is an investment return of over 9,000 % on India Projects funding. Said Father Herman “we are grateful to our many partners but especially to God for allowing such a thorough and rapid response for the poor who are served by this hospital. We are also very grateful to the Rotary Club in Dindigul who acted as sponsors on the receiving end.” |
